Case 03 / BU EK131 coursework

Temperature monitor and alert device

Read temperature, display it locally and signal excursions outside the documented threshold band with visual and audible alerts.

My contribution

I integrated and assembled the documented personal coursework build using vendor/course components.

Key result

The documented build integrates sensor, Arduino, display and visual/audible alerts in an enclosure. Report code defines alerts outside 70–75 °F; no calibrated accuracy or endurance result is available.

Constraints

  • Monitoring and alerts only; no heater or cooler actuation shown.

Packaging and Threshold Logic

The controller, battery and wiring occupy the enclosure base while the LCD is attached to the removable lid. This arrangement presents the display externally and allows access to the electronics when opened.

The report code reads the sensor and activates an LED/buzzer below 70 °F or above 75 °F. It documents monitoring and alerts, with no heater or cooler actuation. The photographs show the assembled device; firmware equivalence and calibrated response remain unverified.

Evidence & interpretation

Results & validation

The documented build integrates sensor, Arduino, display and visual/audible alerts in an enclosure. Report code defines alerts outside 70–75 °F; no calibrated accuracy or endurance result is available.

Code thresholds

70 / 75 °F

verified-in-artifact

Code-document evidence only; installed firmware version and calibrated response not verified. No heating/cooling actuation.

Engineering limitations

No calibrated accuracy, validated system temperature range, response-time or discharge test is available. Embedded code may differ from firmware installed in the photographed build.
